The Royal Kiss
Aww... I want to have a souvenir of their Royal kiss on my page. :)
There were huge cheers from the crowds as Prince William kissed his new bride - twice - on the balcony of Buckingham Palace (Photo from: www.telegraph.co.uk ) |

Have a great weekend everyone! :) ♥

Found more marker renderings
I've run across a few more marker renderings, having thought that I had exhausted my supply. These are probably the last I'll find, but you never know, I'll keep looking.
This first rendering was part of a series of magazine ad comprehensive layouts that I produced for one of my Chicago clients. It's a large 9 x 12" piece and is rendered a bit tighter than most of the storyboards that I did. It's possible that I've posted this one before, but I don't think so.
A group of storyboard frames in which the product was a soft drink. These frames were 5 x 7" in size.
This probably was another overnight assignment and I think that there were a couple more frames. I'll keep digging through my files for more storyboard work.

poem: letter to the emcee
so it's national poetry month. figured i could at least post one poem before the month runs out. here's one of the newest ones i've written. i wrote this poem at a hip hop show while watching a wack emcee perform. goes to show that wackness can be its own form of inspiration. :)
letter to the emcee
i don't want your
wack rap lines
don't want your tired metaphors and limp analogies
sick of your false manhood and your oversexuality disguised as womanhood
do not want to see your button down unbuttoned three buttons down
do not prefer your short shorts and skirts
showing your breasts, thighs, chest, biceps, doesn't entice me
nor does it make your rhymes have skill
I don't care about your endorsements
about your mixtape download remix
your jesus piece doesn't matter to me
your rented cars and fronted g4 flights bore me
could care less about your record deal, your advance, the units you pushed, the gold platinum you sold
don't care about your crew, your set, your peeps, your hoes
don't want to hear about your sexual exploits
about your tongue's run in with bottles and cans
how much money has changed hands
how much tapping and banging and smashing
about your high class vacations and exclusive hotels
so what?
oh well
i. don't. care.
what i like
what i wanna see you do
is stand on the corner in your own hood
shove one hand into the pocket of your hoodie
place one hand on your chest
pull that hood over your head and ears
and listen to your heart
listen to the streets you came from
tell me a story i've never heard
tell me a story i've heard a thousand times and help me see it through new eyes
break out your spiral notebook
scrawl. scribble. write.
until your hand cramps up
until the sun comes up
until your lunch break is over
until your boss catches you
until all the words in your head rest
so you can catch shuteye for a few hours to wake up and do it all again
rhyme.
while you restock the shelves at walmart
after you put the kids to bed
while your math teacher lectures equations
unspool the lines wound in your head
hold them in your mouth until you can give them a place to play
i don't need you to be pretty or rich or sexy or gangsta or hood
i need you to be an artist
a master of ceremony
who finds the break beat
laying rhymes into it like so much mortar and brick
building verse and chorus with the technique of a sculptor
freestyle
like your family's mouths depended on it
like the beat beats in your chest
like hip hop runs through your capillaries
give me music to listen to
prove to me that keep it real is no cliche
make fresh and dope and cool more meaningful than words marketing companies throw on ads and tshirts
tell me the hook so i can say it after you
so i can raise one hand in the air and keep it there
i'll be waiting for you
with an old set of headphones, a boombox and an mpc
please
for me
just be an emcee.

More ad comps
Here are three more magazine ad comps that probably were done for one of my Chicago clients. They are rendered using markers on layout paper. If I remember, this assignment had an overnight deadline as most of my jobs did during the last year that I worked in this field.

Clocks/Chicago - Joe Edmonds
There is a young man by the name of Joe Edmonds who I just recently came to awe. I stumbled on this video by chance and was instantly taken aback. The timing, precision, and carefulness it takes to pull this off is imperative.
So watch Joe Edmonds as he plays "Clocks" by Coldplay and "Chicago" by Sufjan Stevens in a multi-track violin mash-up.
Did you like it? I really appreciate this being a fellow violinist.
If you like Joe Edmonds, subscribe to his youtube channel HERE.

Boho Chic
Bohemian is back! Channel of the peace-loving hippies who popularized the trend, country style dresses-levels in white or cream. Dare to wear bold tribal patterns for exotic feeling, or go for pale pastels that will make you feel light as a feather.
For formal events, choose a darker tone and throw on a blazer or tuxedo jacket, and viola! A more elegant setting for the dream dress functions.

a.b.k Custom Leather Craft
I have a deep love for leather goods (hopefully you remember my interview with Tobi & Jason of Herds of the Fathers from back in November. Click here if you didn’t get to see it, it’s a must read!). Leather products are so timeless; they really add a certain amount of finesse to an outfit. Most of the leather products I own were purchased at vintage & thrift stores and the fact that they are still in working condition as old as they are just shows the quality and durability that this material has (and I think leather really becomes more beautiful and has more character as it ages). I came across a.b.k custom leather craft, a brand based out of Brooklyn, NY, while perusing the web a couple of weeks ago. My jaw almost hit the ground as I looked at the stunning bags, accessories, and shoes that this company makes, all of which are hand crafted by Ayla B. Kazakevich. Here are my favorite pieces..
These products are….a little bit above my budget at the moment but I guess that is the price you pay for really well-made goods, especially since they are made by hand. Check out the rest of their merchandise on their website by clicking here.

Sketches for a comic book cover parody
I recently ran across a couple of sketches that I had done for one of my comic book parody covers. I actually did the art, but my computer crashed suddenly and I lost everything and was unable to retrieve anything. These sketches show some of the stages that I go through when creating these covers.
I first created the logo and made a print to evaluate, using a rough pencil sketch combined with the logo.
This is a more advanced pencil sketch before I inked the final art. I decided to make a print of the sketch and give it to my friend in Sawyer, Richard Hellyer, who incidentally has 12 cats, YES 12 !!!!, He was pleased with the print and is actually the real CatMan.

He's Got That Good Good: Spencer Edwards
I meant to do this post yesterday but I have been so swamped with school work this week. My finals will be coming up in the next couple weeks (the first week of May to be exact) so I will be spending a lot of quality with my lovely books at the lovely library. This means I probably won’t be able to post very much for the next 2 weeks, but I will try my best to do a few! Today’s style feature is one of the many awesome people I have had the privilege of connecting with in the blogging world. He is a very nice guy with a great sense of style and great taste in music (we are both big J Dilla fans)! Without further ado, here is..
Spencer Edwards from Montreal, Canada
How old are you?
22 years of age
What do you do?
I am a fashion student as well as a style blogger
What 3 words would you use to describe your style?
Timeless, Open, Structured
I'm a big fan of shopping at thrift stores and boutiques. I really couldn't remember the last time I stepped foot into mall and purchased much but when I do. I usually head to Club Monaco, Polo store, and Urban Outfitters.
What is the one article of clothing you couldn't live without?
That’s a hard one I really can't just pick one. There are 3 things that I really can't live without that I feel really define me: My bracelets, my hats, and my club masters. A day without those is complete mental madness.
Spencer is a master thrifter. When you check out his blog you will see all the amazing pieces he manages to come across at thrift and vintage stores. I appreciate the way he is able to incorporate these vintage items into his ensembles so seamlessly. Spencer used 3 interesting words to describe his style, but 2 of them really caught my attention: Open & structured. At first glance, these words seem to contradict each other but if you really look at Spencer’s clothing, his style really is open yet structured. The openness comes from the rich colors, various patterns, and overall eclectic nature of his style while the structure comes from the more classic pieces. All in all, I love the look. Thank you Spencer, you’ve got that good good!
Make sure you check out Spencer’s blog, Proprpostur, by clicking (here).
